Join us on the Salty Southern Route from all points west via Route 58. Your trip will focus on Southampton County, Franklin, and the city of Suffolk.
- You’ll be immersed in all things peanut at your first stop, the Peanut Patch, followed by a quick snack at Grayson & Emma’s Garden Spot. But don’t fill up because you’ll head to downtown Franklin for lunch at the iconic Fred’s Restaurant.
- After lunch you’ll head to downtown Suffolk. Be sure to stop by the Visitor Center first for information and brochures. Then head to the Seaboard Station Railroad Museum, a short walk from the Visitor Center. Take a self-guided tour through the historic Cedar Hill Cemetery, featuring the Grave of Antonio Gentile, the designer of Mr. Peanut! Be sure to stop by the Planters Peanut Center, and of course, take a selfie with one of downtown Suffolk’s Mr. Peanut statues. Your time in Suffolk ends with a tour of the historic Riddick’s Folly House Museum.
